what a situationship is

a situationship is closeness that never agreed on its own name. the body still bonded. the ending still counts.

people use the word when there is intimacy, time, and hope, but no shared sentence for what you are. that gap is not small. it is the thing that makes friends minimize it, and makes you minimize it too. if it never had a title, how can it deserve grief.

it can. attachment does not wait for a label. sleep, plans, the private language, the person you told first: those are the bond. when they go quiet, the nervous system does not check a contract. it checks for the person.

the unfinished feeling is the extra tax. there was no last conversation that could hold the whole thing. there is still a draft in you. that draft wants to send. sending rarely finishes it. naming it, privately, often does.

write the thing that never had a place. unsent will not transmit it. if the night is empty, someone is awake. you do not have to prove the relationship was real before you get to hurt.
